The Program
Microsoft Music Central is a music encyclopedia similar to their Cinemania software and is part of the long defunct Microsoft Home collection. Music Central features a selection of biographical articles from the Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music a spin-off of the Encyclopedia of Popular Music written by Colin Larkin, along with album reviews from Q Magazine. Music Central also includes still images and full-motion video clips. It is a nice slice of the music industry as of the mid 1990s.
You have the option of taking an informational 'tour' led by the recorded voice of an artist (or an imitation of their voice, in the case of Little Richard) on their own musical genre. This automatically directs the user to particular articles, and plays samples of music.
You can also browse by artist, album, and genre, or search for particular keywords. is was also a gallery feature to view portraits, album covers, video clips and song clips.
